Knockabbey Castle & Gardens contain some of the most important historical water features in the country. These water gardens were originally started as early as the 11th century by monks from the local Abbey. Over the centuries the water gardens were added to and enlarged. In 1998, Cyril O'Brien found these in a state of overgrown disrepair. Today they have been restored to their former glory with full access along original pathways.
